VICO OLLING & MARTIJN HAAS - THE COLD ONE: A BIOGRAPHY OF STANLEY HILLIS (2017)
ABOUT THE BOOK
Stanley Hillis, alias 'De Kouwe Ouwe', was liquidated in 2011. He was one of Holland’s most feared gangsters. He started out as a petty thief and bank robber in the seventies and made a career in organized crime in the eighties, mostly operating out of the limelight. He became a true godfather, lauded and feared for his eccentricity, intelligence and brute display of power.
But who was that friendly looking man really and why do we know so little about him? How much power did he have? And was he really Willem Holleeder’s boss? And why did he have to die?
In The Cold One Martijn Haas en Vico Olling are searching for his traces. Using extensive research and many interviews they reveal the rise and fall of the capo di tutti capi and the powerful posse around him, simultaneously painting a picture of forty years of Dutch criminal history.
